The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)
requires the banking agencies to assess the record of banks and
thrifts in helping to meet the credit needs of their entire
communities, including low-and moderate-income neighborhoods,
consistent with safe and sound operations and to take this record
into account in evaluating applications for megers, branches, and
certain other corporate activities. The public and the OCC use the
information to assess the bank's community lending record.
The decrease in burden is due
to the availability of more accurate burden estimates.
