DOE requires its contractors to
conduct occupational radiation protection programs to assure that
contractor employees are not exposed to radiation above national
limits. To assure adequacy of these programs, it is necessary for
contractors to perform measurements of radiation and other
workplace factors. These measurements are examined by site office
and headquarters staff. The recordkeeping and reporting
requirements that comprise this information will permit DOE and its
contractors to provide management control and oversight over health
and safety programs concerning worker exposure to ionizing
radiation.
