This is the first screen of the e-Postcard. Based on the organization’s EIN, the system will populate the tax year, legal name and EIN of the organization. These fields cannot be changed. Using the drop-down menu, the organization answers “yes” or “no” to the questions under “B” and then clicks on “Next Page.”
Additional Information:
•If the organization answers “yes” to the termination question, a warning message will pop-up that is designed to insure that the organization has terminated (see Warning and Error Messages later). If the organization has terminated, it still completes the e-Postcard.
•If the organization answers “no” to the gross receipts questions, an error message will pop-up stating that the organization must file Form 990 or 990-EZ because its gross receipts are more than $25,000. The filer will not be allowed to complete the e-Postcard.
•If the filer needs more information about a particular field, he/she clicks on the question mark icon next to the field (see Examples of Help Screens later).
This screen and the following one are the second part of the e-Postcard. Here the organization provides their current mailing address, a website address if they have one, and the name and address of a principal officer. They can also indicate any other names they use.
After the filer completes this page, he/she should click on “Submit Filing to IRS.”
