An Act
To amend title 18, United States Code, to clarify the applicability of offenses Oct. 12, 1982
involving explosives and fire. [H.R. 6454]
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled. That this Act may Anti-Arson Act
be cited as the "Anti-Arson Act of 1982". of 1982.

OFFENSES INVOLVING FIRE
SEC. 2. (a) Subsections (e) and (f) of section 844 of title 18, United
States Code, are each amended by inserting "fire or" after "by
means o f each place it appears.
(b) Section 844(hXl) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by
inserting "fire or" after "uses".
(c) Section 844(i) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by
inserting "fire or" after "by means of.
SEC. 3. The Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is
authorized and directed to classify the offense of arson as a Part I
crime in its Uniform Crime Reports. In addition, the Director of the Special
Federal Bureau of Investigation is authorized and directed to statistical
develop and prepare a special statistical report in cooperation with "^^^^^ '
the National Fire Data Center for the crime of arson, and shall
make public the results of that report.
