Harassment of driver can only be allowed by the driver.
There is no harassment where the driver does not allow it.
One is not forced to work for anyone and violate
regulations. I have been trucking for 30 years, with the last
2.5 years using electronic recorder. No one, and I mean,
NO ONE will tell me when to drive or harass me in any
way. I always have the option, and I have used it, to refuse
to do anything that jeopardizes safety or compliance. I have
NEVER been terminated from a driving position, or as an
owner operator, had my lease cancelled due to any refusal.
This harassment idea is just a ruse to fight against
electronic recorder implementation. I do have reservations
regarding the unforeseen consequences that might have a
negative effect on the movement of goods, and the
associated cost burden throughout the economy with a
recorder mandate industry wide. A driver can be harassed,
if he allows it, whether on paper or electronic. This is much
ado about nothing. A red herring if I have ever seen one.
