EOBRs will do nothing for safety, cost small companies
large amounts of wasteful, unwanted expense. Large
companies use them because they can have someone
alter the log to make it beneficial for the large companies,
they are doing this already!!!! The fact that I have to have a
paper log ready in case the electronic recorder quits, tells
me that this is NOT a good thing to go to. The large fleets
only want these because they can't teach their drivers to
log now and the EOBR is nothing but an electronic
babysitter. Drivers will speed now to make up all the time
they can before being stopped by the EOBR, causing
MORE wrecks than actually preventing them like everyone
says that they will.
I've been driving for 25 years, and I'm all about safety, but
these EOBRs do NOTHING for safety OR compliance.
