May 15, 2006 CASE ID:
Dear ,
One of our interviewers contacted you recently regarding the American Time Use Survey (ATUS), but was unable to complete an interview. Because your participation is important, I am writing to ask for your much needed assistance in this survey.
You are one of several people in your area, and one of many people in the country, who were selected to participate in the American Time Use Survey. The answers you provide represent those of many others, and are invaluable in helping lawmakers, employers, and researchers develop programs and policies that will help you and others in your community. Consequently, your participation in the survey is extremely important. Because you were randomly selected and represent others, we cannot substitute any other person for you.
If you would like to discuss any concerns you have about the survey, please contact us by phone or e-mail. Additional information about the ATUS, including some recent findings and answers to frequently asked questions, is also available on our respondents’ Web site:
Phone: 1-800-331-4706
E-mail: atusinfo@census.gov
Web address: http://www.bls.gov/tus/respinfo.htm
I hope this letter addresses your concerns, and that you will strongly consider participating in the survey when we contact you again.
Thank you,
Joann Milliner
