This request is for a nonsubstantive
change to slightly modify survey activities. NHAMCS is a national
survey of patient visits to emergency departments, outpatient
departments, and ambulatory surgery locations of general and
short-stay hospitals, as well as freestanding ambulatory surgery
centers. The request is to discontinue a supplemental sample of
hospitals and to discontinue the collection of data from
freestanding ambulatory surgery centers. Minor changes in survey
content are also requested, especially to questions related to use
of electronic medical records.
