The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) proposes to implement the 2012 Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics (LEMAS) Survey. The proposed survey is a substantively revised and enhanced effort designed to build upon and improve the contributions of the previous eight waves of the LEMAS surveys. Like previous LEMAS surveys, the proposed 2012 survey is a nationally-representative sample of approximately 3,500 state and local general purpose law enforcement agencies in the United States; unlike previous LEMAS surveys, the design of the proposed survey will introduce a new core-and-supplement model. This request is for data collection that will occur during the period October 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. Note: This reflects a name change from Survey of General Purpose Law Enforcement Agencies (SGPLEA) as published in the Federal Register back to the original LEMAS title.
