These information collection
requirements are minimal and are used to ensure that motor carriers
have adequate documentation of the systematic inspection, repair
and maintenance programs required by 49 CFR part 393. This revision
is due to a Final Rule entitled,"Inspection, Repair, and
Maintenance; Driver-Vehicle Inspection Report for Intermodal
Equipment." The final rule will eliminate the requirement for
drivers operating intermodal equipment (IEP) to submit and
intermodal equipment providers (IEPs) to retain driver-vehicle
inspection reports (DVIRS) when the driver has neither found nor
been made aware of any defects in the IME.
US Code:

service, and equipment standards
The program change decrease of

submit and intermodal equipment providers (IEPs) to retain
driver-vehicle inspection reports (DVIRS) when the driver has
neither found nor been made aware of any defects in the IME as set
forth in the final rule on driver inspection, maintenance and
repair of intermodal equipment.
