The Elevation Certificate and
Floodproofing Certificate are used to properly rate Post-FIRM
structures in Special Flood Hazard Areas. Post-FIRM structures are
buildings constructed after publication of the Flood Insurance Rate
Map(FIRM). The certificates provide community officials with needed
data inorder to verify building elevation information and determine
compliance with community's floodplain management ordinance. The
certificates are then used in conjuction with flood insurance
applications so that buildings can be properly rated for flood
insurance.

This collection has an
adjustment increase from 8245 hours to 24,649 hours (+16,403). This
increase is due to private sector insurance companies no longer
write flood insurance in it own name and has directed its agents to
obtain flood insurance for their clients from the NFIP Direct.
There has also been a significant increase in the number of flood
insurance applications being submitted to the NFIP Direct servicing
agent, which also require a Elevation Certificate and Floodproofing
Certificate.
