EPA is proposing amendments to the
National Emission Standards for Mineral Wool Production. The
amendments would add new emission limits for carbonyl sulfide
(COS), hydrogen fluoride (HF), and hydrogen choride (HCl) for
cupolas and revised emission limits for formaldehyde and new
emissions limits for phenol and methanol for combined collection
and curing operations; and revise the associated performance
testing, recordkeeping, monitoring, and reporting requirements.
Potential respondents subject to the NESHAP include an estimated 7
existing facilities that produce mineral wool. There are no
additional annual responses attributable to this ICR. The burden
estimates are associated with revising operation and maintenance
plans, conducting performance tests to demonstrate compliance with
the new emission limits, and checking and calibrating certain
monitoring instruments associated with operating parameters for
associated control devices. No burden estimates are provided for
new sources because no new facilities are expected to be affected
sources during the next 3 years.
