Science of Research and Technology Branch functional mission statement
The Science of Research and Technology Branch (SRTB) leads and supports the development and application of innovative research approaches, theories, methods, measures, analytic tools, and technologies to advance social and behavioral science in the context of cancer prevention and control.
Scientific priorities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Application and adaptation of successful research approaches, theories, methods, measures, analytic tools, and technologies from a variety of disciplines, fields, and health domains to the conduct of social and behavioral research;
Development, testing, and application of theories with relevance to social and behavioral science, with special interest in theories that incorporate multiple levels of influence;
Development and testing of measures of affective and cognitive influences on, and results of, health behavior change;
Development and application of new technologies with relevance for social and behavioral science;
Development and application of innovative methods for analyzing social and behavioral data;
Facilitating the use of shared measures, methods, and models to promote data harmonization and research synthesis; and
Identifying and disseminating best practices for conducting, facilitating and supporting collaborative team science, including cross-disciplinary team science.
