The information collections contained
in the Interagency Guidance are needed by national banks to manage
their asset securitization activities in a safe and sound manner.
The OCC uses the information to evaluate the quality of a national
bank's risk management practices and to assist national banks
lacking proper supervision of their asset securitization activities
with the implementation of corrective action to ensure that these
activities are conducted in a safe and sound manner.
OCC is citing an increase in
the burden due to an increase in the number of respondents as a
result of implementing the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and
Consumer Protection Act, P.L. 111-203, 124 Stat. 1376 (2010). Bank
management uses these information collections as the basis for the
safe and sound operation of their asset securitization activities
and to ensure that they minimize operational risk in these
activities. The OCC uses this information to evaluate the quality
of an institution's risk management practices. The OCC uses the
information to assist institutions without proper supervision of
their asset securitization activities to implement corrective
action to conduct these activities in a safe and sound manner.
