Summary of Changes to the 2012 Commodity Flow Survey Questionnaire
The Commodity Flow Survey Questionnaire contains several proposed modifications. These changes not only respond to the changing needs of the data user community, but also reflect an attempt to improve the accuracy of the CFS coverage and estimates. All questionnaire changes are being tested to ensure maximum efficiency to the respondents.
CFS questionnaire modifications include:
Revising the requested address information. The current questionnaire identifies differences between the shipping and mailing addresses.
Dropping the intermodal shipment indicator.
Requesting a Yes/No response regarding temperature controlled shipments.
Dropping the fourth quarter questions regarding the use of third party logistics providers.
Adding a set of questions to the fourth quarter questionnaire concerning time sensitivity of deliveries.
