To provide information on possible
social impacts of fishing regulations on communities which have a
shore-based fish processing facility, the National Marine Fisheries
Service's (NMFS) Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) will obtain
basic information about shore-based processing plants, including:
1) the location of the fishing plant in relation to the community,
2) reliance on public infrastructure, 3) plant-supplied services
and facilities for fishing vessels, 4) plant supplied services and
facilities for processing plant employees, 5) history of fish
processing by plant, 6) number of individuals employed at each
processing facility during the months of operation, 7) number of
workers that stay in company provided living accommodations, and 8)
the number of workers that receive meals provided from a company
galley.
