The form used in this collection
covers consumption and stocks of 12 metal commodities, and is
critical to the metals data collection effort. The data are used
for military and civilian planning and Federal policy and economic
decisions related to the commodities covered. Data are compiled
into tables which list separate uses for each commodity and the
forms consumed to make them, as well as stocks. Respondents are
various industries that consume metals and ferro-alloys to make
intermediate products for industrial and consumer use.

We estimate that there will be
1,828 responses totaling 1,371 burden hours. This is a net decrease
of 450 responses and 338 burden hours from our previous request of
2,278 responses and 1,709 burden hours. The difference represents
an adjustment where we fine-tuned the number of respondents based
on our experience in administering this collection along with the
types of respondent feedback, discussions, and interactions as
described in our answer to item 8 in the Supporting Statement Part
A..
