Dear Local Election Official:
The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), in coordination with the Defense
Manpower Data Center (DMDC), has selected your jurisdiction to participate in the FVAP 2010
Post-Election Voting Survey of Local Election Officials. The data derived from the post-election
survey is used to produce a congressional report mandated by the Uniformed and Overseas
Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) following each election. The survey also helps FVAP
improve the absentee voting process for uniformed service members, their families, and citizens
overseas by identifying voting issues experienced by these groups and finding ways to address
these issues in future elections. This survey is not the same as the Election Day survey
conducted by the United States Elections Assistance Commission.
Although the survey is voluntary, the Post-Election Voting Survey is one of the only
tools we have to evaluate the UOCAVA absentee voting process. Your information and opinions
are crucially important to the continued improvement of the Federal Voting Assistance Program
(FVAP) and the absentee voting process for both uniformed service members and our citizens
overseas. Your responses will be kept private to the extent permitted by law. Please note that
you have the option of completing this survey online at the following Web site:
https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/dodsurvey
At this Web site you will need to enter the following Ticket Number: KXXXXXXXXX
to complete the survey.
If you cannot access the Web site or you have questions pertaining to the survey, you
may contact our Survey Processing Center by calling 1-800-881-5307, e-mailing
LEOSurvey@osd.pentagon.mil, or sending a fax to 1-763-268-3002. If you do not wish to
participate or to receive reminders about this survey, you may remove yourself from the mailing
list by contacting the Survey Processing Center. Be sure to include your Ticket Number in all
communications.
Please return the completed questionnaire electronically or in the postage-paid envelope
provided as soon as possible. DMDC has set up a telephone line for anyone who wishes to
verify the survey’s legitimacy. Call 1-703-696-7427 for a list of current DMDC surveys. If you
have any questions about this survey or FVAP, please contact Mr. Allan White (FVAP), who can
be reached toll-free at 1-800-438-VOTE, or by using the toll-free numbers on the FVAP website
(www.fvap.gov), or by e-mailing: vote@fvap.ncr.gov. We appreciate your assistance in this
effort.
Sincerely,
Bob Carey
Director
