Survey of FDIC-insured depository institutions on their efforts to serve underbanked, as well as unbanked, populations. The information collection effort consists of a questionnaire survey and a limited number of case studies. The questionnaire survey is designed to obtain information from a cross-section of banks regarding their efforts to meet the needs of the unbanked/underbanked. The case studies are being conducted to identify innovative approaches employed by banks to serve unbanked and underbanked populations. The respondents for the case studies will be selected from the pool of those who respond to the survey and who, based upon their response to the survey, appear to have developed programs appropriate for further study. The case studies will consist of follow-up questions to the survey responses.
