Recruitment Script - In Class Announcement - UNCG
Good Morning/Afternoon! I am ______ the _______ for a new intervention at UNCG. We want to help men learn how to reduce their risk for HIV and improve their sexual health.
The project is called “Brothers Leading Healthy Lives” and it is a health intervention conducted by the Department of Public Health Education and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We are looking for African American men who are sexually active with women and enrolled students at UNCG (add ‘at either UNCG or NC A&T if needed).
First what we WILL NOT DO! Prick you or stick you! There are no needles involved or any medical interventions or treatments at all! Just surveys and talking! Remember, we want to learn as much as we can about issues facing African American men on college campuses so we want you to feel safe to talk honestly and openly.
Okay, there are a few things we WILL DO…
If you consider yourself to be an African American male student currently enrolled at UNCG (or NC A&T as needed), and you are at least 18 years of age, make sure you provide us with your email address so we can send you a link to an online screening about your sexual health & health practices. The survey will take 5 minutes and guess what… you will receive a $5 gift card as a token of appreciation!
After taking the initial screening, if you are eligible and decide to participate in the one-day intervention, you could receive up to $200.00 in visa Gift Cards as a token of appreciation. If you attend a 10-hour/1 day retreat that includes an initial survey and educational sessions, you may receive a token of appreciation of $160. After attending the retreat and completing a 3-month follow up survey, you will receive another gift card for $35 as a token of appreciation.
So, if you are interested in learning more about health and you meet the eligibility requirements, we hope to hear from you! Please take one of the flyers to get our contact information. I’ll stick around for any questions you may have. Thank you for your time today!
