(Supplementary Document)

A foreign underwriter or an insurance broker on behalf of a foreign underwriter will request
approval to write insurance on a Maritime Administration program vessel. The Division of
Marine Insurance will refer the requester to the regulation (CFR 46, Part 249 – Approval of
Underwriters for Marine Hull Insurance) which lists the requirements and approval process or
will electronically provide them a copy of the regulation.
