The Youthbuild Program provides disadvantaged youth, predominately high school drop outs, with educational opportunities and job skills training. Information is collected from eligible applicants for a competition to determine which entities will receive grant funds. Beginning with fiscal year (FY) 2007, this program transfers to the Department of Labor. The Youthbuild Transfer Act provides authority to HUD to administer grants from FY 2006 and earlier until closeout.
