The Training Program for Federal TRIO
Programs is mandated, by statute, to provide training for staff and
leadership personnel employed or preparing for employment in TRIO
Program projects designed to identify individuals from
disadvantaged backgrounds, prepare them for a program of
postsecondary education, and provide special services for such
students pursuing programs of postsecondary education.
Without the granting of
the emergency clearance, the Department will miss a statutory
deadline and harm to the public would be caused due to lack of
training needed to operate Federal TRIO Programs grants. All staff
employed by Federal TRIO Programs grants that support and ensure
high school completion, college entrance and completion among first
generation and low income students and individuals with
disabilities would go unsupported by training.
This is a reinstatement with
change of a previously cleared application package. The new burden
hours of 1,182 represent a correction to the number of burden hours
previously included in the inventory.
