This OMB package requests an extension
of 3 months of clearance to complete the data collection for the
currently approved data collection instruments to be used in the
Study of the Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC). This "Regional
Educational Laboratory - West" study will measure the impact of the
PITC on child care quality and childrens development. The
evaluation will be conducted by Berkeley Policy Associates in
partnership with the University of Texas at Austin and SRM Boulder.
Evaluation measures include baseline and follow-up questionnaires
for parents, programs, and caregivers; baseline and follow-up
program observations; and two rounds of child
observations/interviews to measure childrens language, social and
cognitive development.

Most all data collection
activities have been completed. Only 150 responses and 125 hours of
data collection remain to be completed and will be finalized within
the three months requested for this extension.
