About a week ago, Harv Forsgren, the Regional Forester for the Southwestern Region of the Forest Service sent you a letter telling you about a survey that we’re doing in the region. Enclosed is the questionnaire he was talking about.

Completing the questionnaire will take some time and effort on your part, but the information is needed by the Forest Service to make plans and decisions about how to manage the National Forests and Grasslands in this region. Your response is completely voluntary; but we hope you agree that National Forests and Grasslands are important and that you will take this opportunity to give your input and opinions about how they should be managed.

You are part of a scientifically chosen sample of Southwestern Region residents. For this survey to be successful we need to hear from all types of people, whether they use the National Forests and Grasslands every day or not at all. Your answers about what you do and what you think are important because they represent the views of other people like yourself. Please be as thorough and complete as you can when you answer the questions because incomplete questionnaires detract from the value of the data. Please fold your completed questionnaire and return it in the enclosed postage-paid envelope by Month, day. Everything you tell us is confidential; only the compiled results will be reported. Each questionnaire is numbered to help us keep track of returns. Your name and address will never be connected with the completed questionnaire.
