The data collected on the BE-15 Annual
Survey of Foreign Direct Investment in the United States provide a
variety of measures of the overall operations of foreign-owned U.S.
affiliates. The data are needed to measure the size and economic
significance of foreign direct investment in the United States,
measure changes in such investment, and assess its impact on the
U.S. and foreign economies.
In order to align BEAs survey
program with available resources, some data items will be dropped
from the forms, reporting thresholds will be raised, and use of
statistical sampling will be expanded.
