FISCAL DATA COLLECTION TOOL
Date, 2009
Dear NAME:
The Congressionally mandated National Assessment of Career and Technical Education (NACTE) is undertaking a study of the distribution of funds under the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV) within states to eligible secondary and postsecondary recipients. The study will assess how state allocations to local secondary and postsecondary providers have changed with the 2006 reauthorization of Perkins IV by comparing distributions of Perkins III funds with the distributions under the current law. The results of the study will be reported to Congress and are likely to figure prominently in future discussions of the Act’s reauthorization.
We are seeking your cooperation in supplying us with the data needed to conduct the study. To assess the impact of the new requirements, we are asking you to send information on your distribution of federal Perkins funds for the 2006-2007 academic year (the last year affected by Perkins III) and for the 2009-2010 academic year. If your state used an alternative formula for the allocation of funds, please send us data for the relevant allocation factors.
We have provided you with a template to assist you in responding to this data request. Although we are willing to accept data in whatever form is easiest for you to provide, our preferred approach would be for you to e-mail us electronic worksheets or data files containing the relevant allocation data.
When the data are submitted, we would also like the name of a contact person whom we may call for clarification or amplification of the data you send us. Please return the requested information to:
