Terms of Clearance

This ICR is approved without change. However, SSA will find a more reliable

method of keeping track of burden estimates and update them, if necessary, upon next submission.

In compliance with the Terms of Clearance, SSA's Office of Income Security Programs is working with SSA's Office of Automation Support and Systems to change the policy and workflow on retaining the SSA-7160. SSA researched the issue and found that after the claims representative annotates the system, they do not retain or store the form. We are making policy changes to require the field offices to store this form in SSA's Non-Disability Repository for Evidentiary Documents. This new policy will enable SSA to better track the usage of this form.

Revisions to the Collection Instrument

We are revising the PRA statement to reflect our current boilerplate language.  The current language, which dates back to the last reprint of the form, is now outdated.

SSA's Office of the General Counsel is conducting a systematic review of SSA's Privacy Act Statements on agency forms. As a result, SSA is updating the Privacy Act Statement on this form.
