The purpose of this collection is to
obtain information on the specifics of the veterinarian shortage
situation and the contact information of the State Veterinarian or
Designee from State animal health officials.
The National Institute
of Food and Agriculture is requesting an emergency clearance for
the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program. By requiring NIFA
to issue regulations for the VMLRP within 270 days of enactment of
the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008, it is the
expectation of Congress that NIFA would be able to make its first
VMLRP agreements in FY 2009 or shortly thereafter. NIFA is
requesting an emergency clearance in order to collect information
on shortage situations. This is the first step in the process that
will allow NIFA to execute its first agreements prior to September
30, 2010.
