enable NSF to partially fulfill the Congressional mandate to serve
as a clearing house for information on the scientific and technical
population of the U.S. This information allows for policy and
planning activities by officials of government, private industry
and academic institutions.

The 2008 NSRCG will include two
graduating classes from the academic years 2006 and 2007. The 2006
NSRCG fielded graduates from three academic years 2003, 2004, and
2005. The total sample size in the 2008 will be 18,000 with 9,000
from each class. The change in burden hours from the 2006 NSRCG
reflects the change in sample size from 27,000 to 18,000, and
additional burden hours required for future tests to improve survey
procedures and utility.
