Addition of DS-0234 to current collection
The Visa Office would like to add the DS-234, Special Immigrant Visa Form, to the immigrant visa collection (1405-0015). This form will illicit information from Iraqi refugees that will help the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) to more efficiently settle them in the United States.
Congress has passed legislation (P.L. 110-181, Refugee Crisis in Iraq Act of 2007) that allows 5,000 Iraqi refugees to enter the U.S. yearly, therefore we expect 5,000 applicants annually. The form will take 20 minutes to complete resulting in an annual hour burden of 1667 hours.
