The MMS uses the information collected
and records maintained under Subpart I to determine the structural
integrity of all offshore platforms and floating production
facilities and to ensure that such integrity will be maintained
throughout the useful life of these structures.
As of December 1, 2008, the
final rule for 30 CFR 250 became effective (73 FR 64541, October
30, 2008).The rule collection (1010-0168, expiration October 31,
2011) consists of burden hours relating to 30 CFR 250 subparts A,
I, and J (50,287 total hours). The MMS is, therefore, consolidating
the burden hours (48,673) for 30 CFR 250, subpart I, into the
primary collection for subpart I--OMB Control Number 1010-0149
(expiration June 30, 2011).The remaining 1,614 hours are being
consolidated into their respective subparts, subpart A, 1010-0114
(expiration November 30, 2010) and J, 1010-0050 (expiration March
3l, 2009). After OMB approves the consolidations, MMS will
discontinue 1010-0168.
