Subject: Request for Approval of the Application for New Grants for the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Program – CFDA No. 84.200A


Attached please find the information clearance collection for OMB 1840-0604, for the GAANN Program. The GAANN collection package was discontinued on May 31, 2007. The Department of Education is now reinstating this collection package for OMB Clearance to collect data under Sec. 648.20, 648.31, and 648.66.


Applications for new grants are accepted annually. The information collected in the application allows the Department to evaluate the quality of competing applications based on the selection criteria identified in the program regulations.


Please review these documents for reinstatement. If additional information is needed, please contact Gary Thomas at 502-7767.


The Information Collection Submission Worksheets Part I and Part II have been included in this collection package along with other required documentation.
