SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR PUBLIC DISPLAY OF ALASKA REINDEER
By authority of 25 U.S.C. 500, the Reindeer Act of 1937, the Alaska Regional Director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs grants permission to the permittee, __________________________ ________________, to keep up to _____ reindeer for public display. Permittee’s mailing address is __________________________________________________ _________Alaska ___________. The reindeer will be kept at __________________________ ______________ _______________________________in/near the town of ______________________________, Alaska. This permit shall be in effect as signed and will continue for five (5) years, until surrendered by Permittee, or revoked by the Bureau, whichever occurs soonest.
The Permittee agrees to the following terms:
Use of the reindeer will be for public display only.
Permit is restricted to male or neutered reindeer only. The permit does not allow maintenance of a breeding herd.
The reindeer will be kept in healthy condition, treated in a humane manner, and provided with adequate food, clean shelter, veterinary care as needed, and protection from predatory actions, at no expense to the Bureau.
The Bureau shall have the right to access to inspect the reindeer and premises.
Permittee shall file a report with the Bureau not later than 30 September of each year, stating the number of reindeer in the permittee’s possession and any change in status or condition of the reindeer from the previous year.
Permittee shall not assign or transfer permit of reindeer.
The reindeer shall not be used for any unlawful purpose.
At termination of this permit, the reindeer may be donated to the University of Alaska Reindeer Research Project, slaughtered, shipped out of Alaska, or otherwise disposed of by a means approved by the Bureau to be done within thirty days of notice to termination.
It is understood and agreed that this permit is not permanent, and maybe revoked for any breach of these terms, or at the discretion of the Bureau.

Paperwork Reduction Act Statement: This information is collected to manage the reindeer program in Alaska and to monitor their use by non-Natives.. The information is supplied by a respondent to obtain or retain a benefit, that is, obtaining reindeer in Alaska. It is estimated that responding to the request will take an average of 10 minutes to complete. This includes the amount of time it takes to gather the information and fill out the form. Note: comments, names and addresses of commenters are available for public review during regular business hours. If you wish us to withhold this information, you must state this prominently at the beginning of your comment. We will honor your request to the extent allowable by law.
