This information required is for
studies of the nature of earthquakes and the mitigation of the
impact of earthquakes on the public. The U.S. Government has
collected these data continuously since 1930 using a similar
questionnaire.
We are reporting 200,000
responses and 20,000 burden hours for this collection. This request
doubles the burden hours from our previous request. This adjustment
is based on our experience in administering this collection over
the past 3 years, during which we had many more responses than we
anticipated in 2005. However, the number of responses depends
strongly on where earthquakes occur with respect to population
centers, and we do not know this in advance.
