As agreed upon
with the agency, this ICR will be approved for two years as opposed
to three since the follow-up period is 18 months after the
conduction of the survey. If the agency decides in the future to
conduct multiple iterations of this data collection using this
cohort, it would have to re-submit to OMB for an
extension/revision.

NSCAW II will collect information on a
second cohort of a nationally representative, longitudinal survey
of children and families who are investigated for a report of child
maltreatment. Information is to be collected directly from
children, their caregivers, caseworkers and teachers to focus on
children's functioning, well-being, and service
utilization.
Funds have been appropriated to
allow for the collection of data on a second cohort of children and
families for the National Survey of Child and Adolescent
Well-Being; revisions in the sampling design, sample size, and
instrumentation have resulted in the burden decrease.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
