The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (42 U.S.C. 15801) amended the OCS Lands Act(43 U.S.C. 1331 et seq. + 43 U.S.C. 1801 et seq.), to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to issue leases, easements, or rights-of-way on the OCS for developing or supporting the production of energy resources other than oil and gas and to authorize other energy and marine-related activities that involve the use of existing facilities on the OCS.The Secretary delegated this authority to MMS on 3/20/2006.The EPAct authorized DOI to develop regulations to implement this new authority.This IC request concerns the paperwork burden of the proposed regulations developed to implement the EPAct amendments to the OCS Lands Act.
