CALL-IN INTRODUCTION
My name is _________________. I am an interviewer from the Human Resources Research Organization in Lawrenceville, NJ. We are calling to talk to you about a research study of employment and other social services in the area. You agreed to be part of the study a few years ago when you visited the County Assistance Office. We sent you a letter recently about the Philadelphia Study. Did you receive the letter we sent out?
(As the letter said) We are doing the survey on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Labor to learn what types of assistance work best to help people succeed in finding and keeping jobs.
We would like to interview you about your work experiences over the past year. This interview should take about 30 minutes. We have a gift of $15 for you to say thank you for your help.
Participation in the study is voluntary. It will not affect your status with social services or your eligibility to receive government benefits now or in the future. As we go along, you may refuse to answer any question.
All of your answers will be kept private to the extent allowed by law. Your name or other information that could identify you will never appear in any public document produced as part of the study. Your answers will be used only for this study and related research. All study staff are trained to protect your privacy and must sign a privacy pledge.
Do you have any questions? If not and you are ready, we can begin.
