The National Science Foundation funded
a program, called Historically Black Colleges and Universities
Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP), designed to help institutions
strengthen the quality of their undergraduate STEM programs. The
Urban Institute is conducting an evaluation of the HBCU-UP program.
A key goal of the evaluation is to determine the extent to which
the Program has produced outcomes that meet state goals for
students, faculty and instiitutions. To conduct this assessment,
the evaluation will rely primarily on data collected through a
survey of graduates.
US Code:
42 USC 1861 et seq. Name of Law: National Science Foundation
Act of 1950
This package was originally
granted clearance in October 2006 based on one IC - survey of
recipients of STEM undergraduate degrees from institutions awarded
an HBCU-UP grant from NSF. Due to programmatic changes, the Urban
Institute, which has a contract with NSF, will also now collect
data from STEM faculty at those institutions.
