Suggested information for the SEA to submit electronically to the Department by November 1, 2007


  1. Provide the name(s) of any 2007-2008 recognized programs of study to be removed from recognition for the 2008-2009 academic year.


  1. If your currently recognized rigorous programs, as indicated on Attachment A, include a State Scholars Initiative (SSI) program that is recognized by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE), please provide to the Department the official name of your State’s SSI program and details on the requirements for its successful completion by students.


  1. Provide the name and details of every new or revised program of study you would like to submit for approval for the 2008-2009 academic year. Be sure to provide the full details, even if you have previously submitted information to the Department, as your plans may have changed. Include the following details as they apply:

    1. Name of the program

    2. Course requirements (e.g. Three years of math: Algebra I, Algebra II, and geometry; Three years of science: biology, chemistry, and physics)

    3. GPA requirements (if any)


  1. Describe how the successful completion of the new or revised program of study ensures that students are exposed to rigorous high school coursework that will prepare them for college.


  1. Provide evidence that a flagship State university in your State’s system will consider students college-ready if they complete the new or revised program of study.


  1. Provide evidence that input on the new or revised program of study was received from the Governor, State Educational Agency, appropriate higher education officials, and the business community.


Please submit the above information electronically to the Department by November 1, 2007, by emailing ACGrants@ed.gov. As mandated by law, all rigorous secondary school programs of study must come from the SEA or include confirmation that the SEA has been consulted.
