requirements of the MPPP should result
in mortgagors, following receipt of
notification of the need for flood
insurance, showing evidence of such a

agent or appropriate Write Your Own
(WYO) Company. It is intended that
NFIP policies be written under the
MPPP only as a last resort, and only on
mortgages whose mortgagors have failed
to respond to the various notifications
required by the Program. The

requirements of the MPPP are contained
in 44 CFR 62.23(l)(1).

abstract: Primary: Individual or
Households. When an alien (other than
one who is required to depart under
safeguards) is granted the privilege of
voluntary departure without the
issuance of an Order to Show Cause, a
control card is prepared. If, after a
certain period of time, a verification of
departure is not received, actions are
taken to locate the alien or ascertain his
or her whereabouts. Form G–146 is used
to inquire of persons in the United
States or abroad regarding the
whereabouts of the alien.
(5) An estimate of the total number of
respondents and the amount of time
estimated for an average respondent to
respond: 20,000 responses at 10 minutes
(.16) per response.
(6) An estimate of the total public
burden (in hours) associated with the
collection: 3,220 annual burden hours.

Affected public who will be asked or
required to respond, as well as a brief
abstract: Primary: Individual or
Households. Public Law 104–208,
Subtitle D, Section 641 directs the
Attorney General, in consultation with
the Secretary of State and the Secretary
of Education, to develop and conduct a
program to collect information on
nonimmigrant foreign students and
exchange visitors from approved
institutions of higher education, as
defined in section 101(a) of the Higher
Education Act of 1965, as amended or
in a program of study at any other DHSapproved academic or language-training
institution, to include approved private
elementary and secondary schools and
public secondary schools, and from
approved exchange visitor program
sponsors designated by the Department
of State (DOS). It also authorized a fee,
not to exceed $100, to be collected from
these students and exchange visitors to
support this information collection
program. DHS has implemented the
Student and Exchange Visitor
Information System (SEVIS) to carry out
this statutory requirement.
(5) An estimate of the total number of
respondents and the amount of time
estimated for an average respondent to
respond: 600,000 responses at 19
minutes (.32) per response.
(6) An estimate of the total public
burden (in hours) associated with the
collection: 192,000 annual burden
hours.
