The collection enables VA to pay
providers to provide health care to certain children of Korean and
Vietnam veterans and women Vietnam veteransÂ’ children born with
spina bifida and certain other covered birth defects. This
information allows VA to determine whether to approve requests for
preauthorization of these benefits, to determine the
appropriateness of billings for health care services, and to make
decisions during the review and appeal process concerning the
health of these individuals.
