Form 8849 requires emergency approval
so that the IRS is not monetarily penalized by its contractor for
missing its ok-to-print. Also this form must be sent to the
conreactor timely so that it can be printed in time to allow
taxpayers to file the form to claim any refunds due of excise
taxes. Because the ok-to-print date for this form is October 6,
2006, we are requesting approval by October 6, 2006.
Form 8849 was revised. And
Schedules 1, 2, 3, and 6 were all updated. IRS also added a new
Schedule 8 to the form, too. Schedule 4 was obsoleted, Schedule 5
had no revisions, and there is no Schedule 7. (Schedule 7 is being
held in reserve.) These changes were the result of the Energy
Incentive Act of 2005, the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient,
Transportation Equity (SAFETY) Act, and the Pension Protection Act
of 2006.
