Recordkeeping requirements of the
Safety Standard for Automatic Residential Garage Door Operators
need to be reinstated to preven prevent injuries and deaths
associated with garage door operator entrapment. According to the
requirement (16 CR, 1211.31), written certification records must be
maintained for a period of at least three years from the date of
certification of each residential garage door operator subject to
the standard. These certificates are based on a test or on a
"reasonable" test program and must be made available upon request
to CPSC in accordance with section 16(b) of the CPSA.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
