In 2006, the
Census Bureau will discuss with representatives from the National
Association of Home Builders the feasibility of providing a public
use microdata file based on the Survey of Residential Alterations
and Repairs. The Census Bureau will report back to OMB before the
end of the calendar year the outcome of this discussion.

Form SORAR-705 is used to collect
information on expenditures for improvements and repairs from a
nationwide sample of rental and vacant residential housing units.
Expenditures for 2004 were $55 billion. These statistics are used
extensively by the federal government in making policy decisions
and become part of the gross domestic product. They are also used
by the private sector for market analysis and other
research.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
