This submission describes proposed
activities of the NCHS Questionnaire Design Research Laboratory.
Survey specific research activities include questionnaire testing
and development for NCHS, other CDC CIOs, and other Federal
agencies. General methodological research on the cognitive aspects
of survey methodology and studies of optimal design for the
presentation of health data will be pursued. Methods for data
collection include cognitive interviewing, focus groups, pilot
household interviews, and Internet surveys.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
