Regulations implementing the Fishery
Management Plan (FMP) for Coral Reef Ecosystems of the Western
Pacific Region include the establishment of a permit requirement
for any U.S. vessel fishing for coral reef management until species
in the designated low-use Marine Protected Areas and open areas,
i.e., waters seaward of the inner boundary of the U.S. EEZ in the
western Pacific region. The special permit is also required for
at-sea transshipment of coral reef management unit species. The
permit application form provides basic information about the permit
applicant, vessel, fishing gear and method, target species,
projected fishing effort
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
