A new Personal Dust Monitor has been
develop to provide miners with accurate real time information about
the amount of respirable coal dust in the air they are breathing.
This sutdy is being conducted to systematically document examples
of how miners are attempting to utilize this new information to
lower their exposure to respirable dust. Disseminating this
information throughout the coal industry should help to reduce the
incidence of pneumoconiosis.
