Retention of trained field
interviewing staff is a concern for the Census Bureau because of
both the monetary costs associated with employee turnover, as well
as the potential impact on data quality. The Field Representative
Exit Questionnaire and the Enumerator Exit questionnaire are used
to collect data from a sample of our former survey interviewers
(Field Representatives and decennial operations interviewers
(enumerators). Information provided by respondent will be used to
determine the reasons for turnover and what the Census Bureau can
do to help reduce turn- over rate among interviewing
staff.
