Section 311 of the Social Security
Independence and Program Improvements Act of 1994 directs the SSA
to provide support to health researchers involved in an
epidemiological study when the study contributes to national health
interest. A series of web-based questions is used to solicit the
information SSA needs to provide data regarding a study subject's
vital status (if he is alive or dead), and recouperate expenses
incurred in providing this data. The respondents are
epidemiological researchers who apply for vital status
information.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
